Cabinet maker, joiner, both — what we actually do

Most Adelaide kitchen and cabinetry buyers don’t know whether they need a cabinet maker, a joiner, or both. The honest answer is that for most modern Adelaide kitchen and cabinetry work the line has blurred — we handle both inside our workshop. Cabinet-makers build the carcasses, doors, drawers and shelving. Joiners handle the architectural fit-out elements where bespoke timber detailing meets the cabinetry — built-in benches, window seats, panelled walls, custom mantels, library shelving with mouldings.

Read the full breakdown — cabinet makers vs joiners.

What our cabinetry covers, room by room:

Kitchen cabinetry

The carcasses, doors, drawers, panels and trims for a full or partial kitchen. Whether you’ve come to us for a full renovation or you’re keeping the layout and just replacing the cabinetry, the build is the same — Australian E0 carcass board, Hettich or Blum drawer runners and hinges, two-pack, timber-veneer or thermofoil doors as specified. See kitchen renovations for the full-renovation context.

Butler’s pantries

A second working kitchen behind the show kitchen. Sink optional, prep zone, appliance garage, walk-through or galley layout. Twelve standard layouts that work in Adelaide homes — see butler’s pantry design and build and the layout breakdown in butler’s pantry design ideas Adelaide.

Walk-in wardrobes and built-in robes

Custom wardrobe joinery — walk-in robes with island drawer units, built-in robes with sliding or hinged doors, mirror placement, hanging-and-drawer ratios. Eight layout patterns and three cost bands — walk-in wardrobes, built-in vs walk-in.

Laundry cabinetry

Laundry-as-utility through to laundry-as-room. Galley, L-shape or single-wall layouts. Stone, laminate or timber benchtop options. Sink, tub, drying-rack and pull-out hamper integration. See laundry cabinetry.

Bathroom vanities

Custom bathroom vanity cabinetry — wall-hung, floor-standing, his-and-hers double-vanity, drawer-fronted with internal compartments. Stone, porcelain or solid-surface tops. Soft-close drawers, integrated handles or brushed-brass cup pulls, water-resistant plywood carcass for wet-area durability. Bathroom vanities sit alongside the kitchen and main cabinetry as one of the most-searched cabinetry categories in Adelaide — over 27,000 monthly searches Australia-wide. We build them as part of any custom-cabinetry quote, or as a standalone single-room job.

Standalone bathroom vanity scope:

  • Free 60-minute consultation — measure the existing space, brief the layout, choose materials.
  • 3D plan and finishes board — door, top, hardware, sink and tap shown together.
  • Fixed-price quote — line-by-line, including any tiling, plumbing or electrical adjustments.
  • Made in our SA workshop — typically four to six weeks lead time.
  • Install in one to two days — depending on scope of plumbing.

Cost bands for bathroom vanities — single-vanity from $2,500 to $4,500 (laminate top, mid-spec); $4,500 to $8,000 (stone top, soft-close, two-pack doors); $8,000 to $15,000+ (double-vanity, premium stone, integrated lighting, bespoke hardware).

Entertainment units, study fit-outs and bespoke storage

Living-room cabinetry — TV unit, bookshelves, hidden bar, full-wall storage. Hallway storage and entry cabinetry. Home office and study fit-outs with desk, bookshelf, file storage and concealed cabling. Read the comparison — custom storage vs off-the-shelf.

Three cost bands — Adelaide custom cabinetry pricing in 2026

Band 1 — Single zone: $4,000 to $8,000

Single-zone cabinetry — a butler’s pantry retrofit in an existing space, a single-vanity bathroom, a study desk-and-shelf fit-out, a single-laundry galley refresh. Lead time four to six weeks.

Band 2 — Full-room cabinetry: $8,000 to $15,000

Full-room cabinetry — full butler’s pantry build, full walk-in wardrobe with island, full laundry with sink and bench, full entertainment unit. Includes stone benchtop where applicable. Lead time six to eight weeks.

Band 3 — Multi-room or premium bespoke: $15,000+

Multi-room cabinetry packages, premium bespoke joinery (timber-veneer doors, brass detailing, full-wall library, double-vanity bathroom with integrated lighting), or whole-of-home cabinetry coordination. Lead time eight to twelve weeks.

These bands sit alongside kitchen renovation pricing — for a full kitchen rebuild including the cabinetry, see the kitchen-renovation cost bands. For cabinetry-only quotes, the bands above apply.

Where we work

Custom cabinetry across Greater Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills and the Fleurieu Peninsula. The cabinetry-only buyer often comes to us from a renovation that’s already started — the kitchen renovator who wants the butler’s pantry built, the bathroom-renovation client who wants the vanity matched, the laundry-renovation client who wants the cabinetry coordinated with the bench.

See the locations index for the eleven suburb and region pages we publish.

Cross-trade considerations

Cabinetry installs sometimes coincide with other house works. A few notes:

  • Pest treatment around cabinetry voids. Butler’s pantry plinth gaps and kitchen-cabinet kicker spaces can be ant-attractive if food-safe sealing isn’t part of the install. We seal as a standard step. For pre-existing pressure, Adelaide pest control handles the harbourage.
  • Window-cleaning post-install. Two-pack paint and stone install creates fine dust that settles on glass. Post-install residential window cleaning in Adelaide finishes the look.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between a cabinet maker and a joiner in Adelaide?

For modern kitchen and cabinetry work the distinction has blurred — most workshops do both. Traditionally cabinet-makers built carcasses, doors and drawers; joiners did architectural timber work like staircases, panelled walls and bespoke timber detailing. Today most Adelaide cabinetry workshops, including ours, cover both inside the same shop. Read the full breakdown — cabinet makers vs joiners.

Do you do bathroom vanities only, or only as part of a kitchen?

Both. Bathroom vanities are quoted standalone — single-vanity from $2,500 — or as part of a multi-room cabinetry package where the savings on shared workshop time and matched finishes apply.

What’s the lead time for custom cabinetry?

Single-zone cabinetry — four to six weeks from signed quote. Full-room cabinetry — six to eight weeks. Multi-room or premium bespoke — eight to twelve weeks. Install is typically one to three days on-site.

Can you match existing cabinetry?

Often, yes — we colour-match doors, hardware and benchtop edges to existing cabinetry. The match is rarely 100% perfect on stone slabs (each batch is unique) but on doors, paint and hardware we can usually get within 95%. We’ll tell you honestly at consultation if the match is going to read as a mismatch.

Do you do flat-pack assembly?

We don’t ship flat-pack as our default. We can install a flat-pack kit you’ve sourced (IKEA, Kaboodle, Bunnings) on request, but the warranty on the cabinetry sits with the supplier. Read more — flat-pack kitchens explained.

Is the cabinetry made in Adelaide?

Yes. Carcasses, doors, drawers and panels are produced in our SA workshop. Hardware (Hettich, Blum) is Australian-imported European. Stone is templated, fabricated and finished by Adelaide stone fabricators we partner with.

What’s the cabinetry warranty?

Seven years on cabinetry in writing. Hardware (hinges, drawer runners) carries the Hettich or Blum manufacturer warranty in addition — typically 10 to 25 years.
